About Maureen Bane
Maureen Bane is the owner and creative force behind Signature Finishes, a vibrant paint and design destination on the southern coast of Maine. A lifelong decorative artist and educator, Maureen began her career as a professional faux finisher, specializing in custom finishes, murals, glazes, plasters, and architectural surfaces. Her passion for craftsmanship and her eye for timeless design quickly built a reputation for creating richly layered interiors inspired by European old-world artistry.
Today, Maureen is recognized internationally through her work with Annie Sloan Interiors, where she has been appointed both a Star Painter and serves as Global Technical Advisor. In these roles, she shares her extensive technical expertise, develops educational content, and helps painters and stockists around the world master decorative painting techniques with confidence and creativity. Her ability to make advanced finishes approachable has inspired countless students and professionals alike.
Under Maureen’s leadership, Signature Finishes has become one of the few Annie Sloan Flagship Stores in the United States, offering a thoughtfully curated selection of Annie Sloan Interiors products alongside Farrow & Ball paints and wallpapers. The shop is also a creative teaching studio, hosting workshops in Chalk Paint® techniques, milk paint layering, decorative wall finishes, and mixed-media applications featuring moulds, stamps, and transfers from Iron Orchid Designs.
Beyond paint and finishes, Signature Finishes celebrates craftsmanship and community by showcasing one-of-a-kind pieces sourced from local artisans, antique dealers, and makers throughout Maine and New England. Every corner of the shop reflects Maureen’s passion for beautiful interiors, artistic technique, and meaningful connection.
Open daily, Signature Finishes is both a retail destination and a welcoming creative hub—where customers come to find inspiration, learn new skills, and bring timeless design ideas to life.
